About Holly, Michigan
Downtown Holly is know for it quaint shops, "Christmas Dickens Festival", "Battle Alley" and the Holly Hotel. If you are looking for antiques, then Holly is the place to be.
One of the favorite things that brings people to Holly is the famous "Battle Alley." On one end of the alley is the Holly Hotel where Carry Nation smashed the saloon in 1908. In 1910, Battle Alley became the first brick street in the village. Many of the bricks are still there today. There is a lot of history in this town.
Holly is a great destination for a day trip. Every Wednesday in the summer, starting at 5 pm is the Holly Car Cruise. Every car you can imagine fills Battle Alley and main street. It sure is an awesome sight to see!
Oh and Ladies...Holly has a spring and fall "Ladies Night Out!" Prizes and discounts galore!!! Definitely a great night to get together with friends.
The Village of Holly does a terrific job putting on the Christmas "Dickens Festival." The Dickens Festival is a big event that starts the weekend after Thanksgiving. There are people dressed in vintage attire and horse drawn carriages, Santa, caroling, chestnuts roasting on open fires, and many other vendors. It's a great event for couples and families to get into the holiday spirit.
If you enjoy old-fashioned fine dining, you'll love the Holly Hotel. For over a century it was the place where gentlemen and ladies dined and stayed overnight on the railroad trip between Detroit and Flint or Saginaw. For the young people, every Saturday night there is live comedy in the basement. Make sure to get a reservation, as the shows bring in big name talent and are sometimes sold out weeks in advance.
Our Holly shop is located in the heart of all of these wonderful events and attractions on Battle Alley. It is located in what used to be the old village post office. There is still a remnant of the original building as you come in side the shop door. We still have some old post office boxes on the wall.
The other unique thing about our Holly store is the old tin ceilings that are throughout, and they are original to the building. This truly makes our place unique.
So stop on by and checkout our wonderful building and the many handmade products we offer. We would love to see you and say hello :)
