You Exfoliate How?

You Exfoliate How?

Sugar scrubs are a great way to gently exfoliate the skin.  This leaves your skin feeling smooth, soft, and smelling great.  While we love sugar scrubs, How many of us actually know the right way to use them?

Benefits:  Sugar scrubs are a great way to exfoliate the skin and are a necessary step in your skin care routine.  Regularly exfoliating your skin can leave it looking brighter, softer, and less dull.  Plus is gets rid of the build up of dead skin cells.  This build up will leave your skin looking dry and rough.  'Who wants that!  I sure don't!'

How To Use:  Please note that how often you exfoliate with sugar scrub definitely depends on your skin type.  Over exfoliating can causes dryness and irritation.  So, you want to be careful not to over do it.  For all skin types just start out by exfoliating once a week.  Then gradually work your way up to 3-4 times a week.  For sensitive skin you may only need to exfoliate once a week.  Just keep an eye on how your skin reacts.  Check out our picks for a great "All-Natural" scrub and a "Scented" scrub to use.  1.  Wanting a relaxing scent while exfoliating, then here is the scrub for you.  Try this "All-Natural Lavender" sugar scrub.  2.  Maybe you would like a fresh clean scent!  Try "Wishes" sugar scrub.

Step 1: If you shower let the warm water run for a couple of minutes before you start.  In the bath soak for about 5 minutes before exfoliating. Once you are ready, scoop out a palm sized amount of scrub, then gently massage onto your skin in a circular motion.  Main areas to exfoliate are your feet, legs, knees, elbows, arms, and hands.  Step 2:  After exfoliating, rinse the scrub away with warm water.  Now it is time to dry off.  Make sure to pat dry off and not rub your self dry.  Leave a little dampness on your skin!  Step 3:  If you use a moisturizer on exfoliating days this is a good time to use one.  Since your pores are open from a warm bath/shower a good body oil or butter is recommended.  Leaving your skin a bit damp helps the body oil or butter to be easily absorbed into the skin.  In return your skin is left feeling supple and soft.  Step 4:  Now put on your favorite robe or pj's and relax!

Got Kids??? Then You Need This!

Got Kids??? Then You Need This!

It is that time of the year for colds and flus to strike our homes.  Our "All Natural Vapor Rub" is a great remedy to have around.  Having small children and babies really limits your options for treating cough and congestion.

I used to keep Vicks on hand at my house for cold and flu season.  I would apply it to my kids feet and chests when they weren't feeling good.  Vicks is what I grew up using, therefore it only made sense to use it on my children.  I didn't think twice about it or the ingredients that were in it.  Todays consumers, as well as myself, are becoming more aware of the stuff that we put on or in our body.

That is why I quit using store bought rubs and created an all natural alternative for my family. I wanted a product that I felt comfortable using on my kids and myself.  The all natural ingredients I use to make my vapor rub is beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils.  The smell is powerful, refreshing, and not to mention it works great :)

Our All-Natural Vapor Rub is great for congestion and coughs! However, it is also great to use on sore muscles, headaches,  and much more. Here are just a few other ways to use our Rub:

    • Headaches:  Rub a small amount of vapor rub on your temples and forehead to help relieve headaches. The mentholated scent will release pressure in your head and instantly relieve pain.
    • Sore Muscles:  Just apply to the areas that you are feeling soreness and pain.  It is that simple.
    • Acne Treatment:  Apply to pimples several times a day to dry them out.
    • Treat Splinters:  Apply to prevent infection and to help sliver work its way out.
    • Dissolve Bruises:  Mix rub with salt and apply it on top of the recently bruised area.  It encourages a faster breakdown of the blood, getting rid of the black and blue faster.
So, if you have not already made the switch to "All-Natural Vapor Rub" you should definitely consider it.  You won't be disappointed!

    Gift Giving Etiquette

    Gift Giving Etiquette

As the holidays creep up on us quickly our stress levels can start to rise.  Our minds start to think of all these questions when It concerns gifts.  What's the perfect gift? How much should I spend? Do I get a gift for the hostess? Our homemade gifts okay or cash? Who would not be stressed after thinking about all of these possible questions.  I love the holidays. The holidays definitely stress me out having to think about buying gifts for everybody and their brother.  I hope I can help by answering a few of these questions that seems to be on every ones mind.

Review Your Gift List:  First things first, this should be done every year.  Find out where your relationship stands with each person.  Has it been over a year since you have seen them? Do you give them birthday gifts?  If the answer is "No" then I would not worry about getting that particular person a gift.

Appropriate Spending:  Resist the urge of match spending.  If someone is buying an extravagant gift, they should be doing so because they want too.  If they are not, then it tends to lose meaning and thoughtfulness.  Plus, individuals that usually buy extravagant gifts are able to do so financially.  So, it is better to give a gift with sentiment not a heavy price tag.

Hostess Gifts:  Should one give a hostess gift even if the invite says not too? Yes :)  You should always bring a gift to the hostess even if they say not too.  A hostess gift doesn't have to be expensive or big.  It can be some home baked goods, fun cocktail napkins, a small candle, etc.  The hostess will not refuse the kind gesture.

Cash & Homemade Gifts:  Instead of giving cash, I would recommend giving a gift card.  A gift card is a more tactful way to give a monetary gift.  Homemade gifts can be one of the best gifts you can give someone.  It really shows the thoughtfulness and the time you put into thinking of that person.

Presentation:  You always want to make sure that your gift is wrapped nicely, in a gift bag with tissue paper, or has a ribbon wrapped around it.  Make sure to include a gift tag or card.  Also, when necessary add a gift receipt to the gift. A nicely wrapped gift shows the person that you took the time to make it special.

Appreciation:  Make sure to always show appreciation to someone that has given you a gift.  Whether you like the gift or not.  Even if you do not have a gift in return.  Receive the gift graciously and thank them.  Remember that person took the time to think of you and present you with something special.

The bottom line is, what we give as gifts and how we receive them says a lot about us.  Keep in mind most people give gifts to show their appreciation.  Most of the time they are just looking for a simple thank you and nothing in return. Enjoy your Holiday Season!

    What's in your Matcha?

    What's in your Matcha?

Matcha Tea is becoming quite popular these days.  You may be asking "What is Matcha?" Most historians believe that the very first green tea seeds were brought to Japan from China by the Zen Monk Eisai in 1191 A.D. In Japanese,  "Ma" means powder and "Cha" means tea.  So, in essence you have a powder tea which is the most potent green tea in the world.  Okay! That's great but how does that benefit anyone?  One major benefit of this tea is that it packs a punch of antioxidants.  Just one cup of Matcha Tea has as many antioxidants as 10 cups of Green Tea.  Antioxidants are naturally occurring componds that help prevent chronic diseases and aging.  Not only is this green tea great in these areas, but it is also a great addition to your skin care routine.

    Matcha Green Tea

Your thinking, "How is Matcha beneficial for my skin?"  Lets Dive in!  Matcha is a natural alternative to the products found in your local stores.  It is also a valuable ingredient when it comes to antioxidants because it contains EGCG, a hard-to-find antioxidant that counters the effects of pollution, UV rays, radiation, and chemicals. Antioxidants are the key because they work to reduce inflammation and free radicals that accelerate skin aging.

    1. Reduces Inflammation: Matcha has anti-imflammatory properties that help reduce redness associated with chronic skin conditions such as rosacea and acne. Matcha is also gentle enough for all skin types to use.
    2. Treats Oily Skin:  One can use this green tea to shrink pores and reduce the production of oil associated with acne.
    3. Improves Complexion:  It helps to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.  Who doesn't want that?  I know I sure do!  This green tea gently exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells and improve ones complexion.
    4. Ant-Aging:  Matcha stimulates elastin production to add volume to the skin. It also protects the skin against free radicals that cause sun damage, age spots, dry skin, and wrinkles.
    5. All Skin Types:  This is great for all skin types.  Oily/Acne Prone, Mature, Combination, Normal, and even Dry Skin.  The reason is because it is natural with no harsh chemicals.  That is why it is gentle enough for younger skin and great for skin types that need that extra boost.

The next time you want a little rejuvenating skin treatment, a "Matcha Facial Mask" is one of the best things you can do.  We have taken the leg work out for you.
